Connect with Culture - Wingaru Education's Games for Kids
Wingaru Education is an Aboriginal-owned and operated organization, based on Gadigal Country, who specialise in the design, creation and implementation of digital education resources and software. They also create a number of physical products - featuring Aboriginal artwork and First-Nations symbolism - including classroom decor, teacher essentials, games, teacher gifts, and other resources.
The name Wingaru comes from the Dharug language, meaning "to think." This philosophy sits at the heart of everything they create. By sharing the stories and history of the world's oldest continuous living culture, Wingaru aims to change the national conversation and foster a future built on shared understanding and respect.
"Our mission is to change the way Australia thinks and talks about Aboriginal People and the issues impacting our communities through supporting a greater understanding and shared knowledge within the wider community."
Why We Stock Wingaru
Starting a conversation about First Nations history is made accessible, authentic, and joyful with Wingaru's resources. They help children to :
- Build Cultural Confidence: Engaging with Aboriginal perspectives from a young age creates a foundation of respect.
- Understand Our Identity: Learning the true history of Australia is essential for every child growing up on this land.
- Support Reconciliation: Shared knowledge is the first step toward closing the gap and creating a fairer community for everyone.
At The Toy Chest, we believe that the most powerful way for children to learn is through play. We are proud to stock some of Wingaru Education's best-selling card games and board games for kids, bringing Aboriginal culture and truth-telling to life.
A Journey for Every Australian
Whether you are an educator looking for classroom essentials or a parent wanting to diversify your toy box, these resources are for all children. They provide a bridge to "truth-telling" and help prepare the next generation to be informed, empathetic citizens.
If you’re looking for even more ways to learn, Wingaru also offers a variety of online resources and insights to support your education journey.
